I teach students with emotional disabilities and these students do not do well with schedule changes. They become extremely angry and refuse to work. Also the number of referrals increases dramatically due to our assistants and\or teachers being pulled to test various sections of a variety of tests. Truly, the entire change in our schedule and personnel means we lose an incredible amount of time to testing versus teaching and the time period it takes to get back in the swing of things adds additional insult to testing “injury”. It is heart-breaking to see what this testing does to teaching these students when what we have daily is already such a delicate balance.
